It’s hard to believe now, but every trip started with a paper map. Before smartphones, a young company called Telenav started texting you directions. When smartphones with screens and GPS went mainstream, the concept of maps being the killer app for the smartphone went mainstream. Telenav’s navigation, sometimes white labeled via AT&T, Spring and several car companies, became the #1 on the iOS app store and had 30M paying subscribers (enabling Telenav to IPO). I was just learning how startups and product worked and thank the team for letting me hang out on the journey!
